Peterbilt has announced that it will offer a new powertrain option for its 579, 567, and 589 tractor models, featuring the TX-12 Pro automated transmission paired with the Paccar MX-13 engine. This combination is designed to support up to 1,700 pound-feet of torque and is targeted at applications including dump trucks, tankers, and municipal vehicles. Peterbilt emphasizes that the integration of this powertrain enhances fuel efficiency and reliability, making it suitable for various on-highway and vocational uses.
The TX-12 Pro transmission is engineered to accommodate engines with torque ratings up to 1,000 pound-feet and a maximum gross combination weight rating of 70,000 pounds.
