Published: April 2, 2025
Kenan Advantage Group (KAG) has expanded its operations by acquiring liquid bulk carrier M.C. Tank Transport Inc., which has its headquarters in West Chester, Ohio, and operates eight terminal locations across the Southeast and Midwest. M.C. Tank specializes in transporting and storing hazardous materials such as caustic soda and sulfuric acid and includes three ISO-compliant container depots. This acquisition enhances KAG's capabilities in chemical transportation and related services, aligning with CEO Charlie DeLacey's vision of delivering specialized solutions for their chemical clients. The acquisition adds approximately 175 drivers and various assets to KAG's fleet. KAG has been actively acquiring other firms, focusing on expanding both liquid and dry bulk transportation services, with previous acquisitions including Northern Dry Bulk and plans to purchase Evergreen Transport. M.C. Tank’s President, Michael Anderson, expressed confidence that this partnership would enhance their operational capabilities and technological advancements. In the ever-evolving transportation landscape, strategic acquisitions like KAG's are essential for companies to remain competitive, especially in niche markets such as bulk chemical transportation. The integration of resources allows for operational efficiencies and improved service delivery, essential for catering to the specific needs of clients in the chemical sector. This consolidation trend signifies a broader movement in the industry where firms are increasingly looking to diversify their service offerings and enhance their logistical capabilities to adapt to the complicated global supply chain dynamics.
