A Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 flight from Milan to Atlanta had to return to Malpensa due to an engine problem. The incident, involving a Boeing 767-400 with registration N835MH, occurred shortly after takeoff, when the CF6-80 engine encountered an issue. Despite witnesses seeing smoke during takeoff, the plane safely landed back at Malpensa after climbing to 3,000 feet. Although some tire damage was observed upon landing, all 234 passengers and crew onboard were unharmed. The cause of the engine problem is currently being investigated. In such situations, thorough inspection and maintenance procedures are crucial to ensure the safety and integrity of aircraft engines, which are vital components of air transportation systems.
