Houston, we have a… RAM? Check out these Lunar-themed special edition pick-ups
Published: August 21, 2024
RAM is introducing two lunar-themed editions of its popular pick-up trucks, the Power Wagon and Rebel Heavy Duty, starting in October. These special editions boast a unique exterior design inspired by the colors of the moon, featuring ceramic paint and gloss black lunar vinyls, along with distinctive light elements and 33-inch tires. The interiors are upgraded with Surf Blue stitching on the black leather seats and twill film accents, along with a custom metal badge.
The Power Wagon comes equipped with a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine, producing 404 horsepower and 426 lb-ft of torque, with a towing capacity of 4.8 tonnes. In contrast, the Rebel Heavy Duty is powered by a 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel engine, generating 365 horsepower and an impressive 850 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a significant towing capacity of 7.6 tonnes. The starting prices for these models are $75,205 for the Power Wagon Lunar and $85,205 for the Rebel Heavy Duty Lunar.
From a transportation expert's perspective, while RAM's special editions may appeal to collectors and enthusiasts, it's essential to assess how these designs impact functionality and environment. The focus on off-road capabilities underscores the growing demand for vehicles that combine aesthetics with performance. As gas prices fluctuate and environmental concerns rise, manufacturers could benefit from exploring alternative fuel options for heavy-duty trucks, aligning luxury features with sustainability for a more comprehensive approach to modern transportation.
