Ford has introduced a software calibration upgrade for the 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 engine, boosting power and torque for 2024 Ranger Raptor and 2023 and 2024 Bronco Raptor models in the U.S. The new calibration increases output to 449 horsepower and 536 lb-ft of torque, enhancing the previous figures of 399 horsepower and 430 lb-ft for the Ranger, and 412 horsepower and 440 lb-ft for the Bronco. This upgrade, which improves throttle response and shifts, can be ordered online and installed at local dealerships, backed by Ford’s three-year, 36,000-mile parts warranty. The enhancement costs $825, with a 20 percent discount available for attendees of the Raptor Rally in Utah. From a transportation perspective, this development highlights a trend towards software-based upgrades for vehicles, allowing for increased performance without the need for physical modifications. Such innovations not only cater to consumer demands for enhanced vehicle capabilities but also emphasize the importance of maintaining technological adaptability in the automotive industry. This shift could signal a broader industry movement toward integrating software solutions to improve vehicle performance, efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction. As manufacturers adopt similar strategies, the focus on modular and upgradeable car systems may reshape consumer expectations and industry standards.
