Volvo to Launch Battery-Electric Truck With Longer Range

Volvo Trucks announced plans to enhance the range of its FH Electric truck to approximately 372 miles per charge, up from the current maximum of 300 miles. This updated model is scheduled to launch in Europe in the latter part of 2025. The FH Electric will be available in configurations including 4x2, 6x2, and 6x4 tractors, with battery capacities ranging from 360 kWh to 540 kWh. Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks, emphasized that this longer-range option will support transport companies in maintaining productivity without frequent recharging, aligning with industry demands for zero-emission solutions. The extended range is attributed to advancements such as a new e-axle for more battery storage, improved battery management systems, and a more efficient powertrain. Furthermore, Volvo’s North American segment is pushing the electric VNR models and has unveiled plans for the VNL 440 Electric. The company is also making significant investments in manufacturing capabilities, including a new plant in Monterrey, Mexico, to support growing electric vehicle production and capitalize on proximity to the U.S. market.
