Delta is launching flights from LAX to Brisbane, connecting the two Olympic host cities

Delta Airlines has initiated a new service from Los Angeles to Brisbane, marking another expansion of its international offerings. The inaugural flight, showcasing the Airbus A350-900 in a special "LA28" livery, departed at 11:00 PM PST and has a scheduled duration of 14 hours and 40 minutes. The route will operate three times a week until March 28, 2025. This addition follows Delta's recent enhancements to its Sydney route, increasing it to daily service, and its launch of daily flights to Auckland and thrice-weekly services to Tahiti.
From a transportation perspective, Delta’s expanded international operations reflect a growing trend among airlines to increase connectivity to the Pacific region, which is significant given the rising demand for travel to Australia and New Zealand. This move not only caters to leisure travelers but also to business travelers seeking more direct options. The use of the Airbus A350-900, known for its fuel efficiency and range, indicates Delta's commitment to sustainability while meeting passenger demand. This expansion is strategic, as it positions Delta competitively in the trans-Pacific market, especially in light of post-pandemic recovery and the increasing popularity of long-haul travel.
