On New Year’s Day around 1:45 PM, a Turkish Airlines flight to Morocco made an unscheduled landing in Malta due to a passenger's medical emergency. After landing, while crew members were attending to the sick passenger, four others exited the aircraft through a rear door and fled the scene. Two of these individuals were apprehended by authorities, while the other two remain at large as of the evening. The ill passenger, who is Moroccan, was hospitalized but remained under arrest. The plane later resumed its route to Morocco. This incident raises concerns about airport security and passenger monitoring. It is critical for airlines and airport authorities to ensure that proper procedures are in place for handling medical emergencies while also maintaining security protocols to prevent unauthorized departures from aircraft. Such breaches can pose safety risks and highlight the need for enhanced surveillance and passenger tracking measures during flight diversions, especially in situations where passengers may not be fully accounted for.
