AIT Buys St. Louis-Based Freight Forwarder Krupp Trucking

Published: January 9, 2025
AIT Worldwide Logistics has acquired Krupp Trucking, a freight forwarder specializing in high-value goods, in a move to expand its capabilities within the technology logistics sector. AIT, based in Itasca, Illinois, ranks 35th among the largest logistics companies in North America, while Krupp, located in St. Louis, ships approximately 2.5 million kilograms of freight annually through various transportation modes. The acquisition will also include a 115,000-square-foot facility in Earth City, Missouri, a fleet of over 60 trucks, and nearly 100 employees. Ray Fennelly, AIT's Chief Development Officer, highlighted the beneficial synergy between AIT's extensive global network and governance and Krupp's quality service, particularly for high-tech industries requiring "white glove" logistics. Scott Krupp, the founder of Krupp Trucking, will remain with the company as city director and expressed enthusiasm for joining AIT, citing opportunities for growth and enhanced processes. From a transportation expert’s perspective, this acquisition reflects a strategic move in an increasingly competitive logistics market. Companies that specialize in high-value goods face unique challenges, including security and specialized handling requirements. By integrating Krupp's expertise, AIT enhances its service offerings, particularly for clients in the technology sector, which demand precise and reliable logistics solutions. This consolidation in the logistics field indicates a trend toward larger companies seeking to enhance their service capabilities through targeted acquisitions, likely strengthening their market positions and improving customer relations in a rapidly evolving industry.
