Diesel Price Falls 4.5¢ to $3.534 a Gallon
The national average diesel price experienced a decline of 4.5 cents, settling at $3.534 per gallon, marking the second consecutive decrease after a prior increase of 9 cents over three weeks. This recent drop totals 10.5 cents and reflects a price that is 45.8 cents lower compared to the same time in 2024. The reduction in diesel prices was observed across all five PADD districts, with the Gulf Coast region seeing the largest drop of 7.2 cents. On the gasoline front, the average price fell by 2.7 cents to $3.141 per gallon, which is 52.7 cents lower than a year ago.
From a transportation perspective, these changes in fuel prices can significantly influence operational costs for trucking and logistics companies. Lower diesel prices may provide some relief to transporters, helping stabilize freight rates and potentially reducing consumer prices. This shift can also inspire fleet operators to reevaluate their fuel-efficient practices or invest in alternative fuel technologies, given the ongoing volatility in fuel costs. Keeping an eye on these trends is essential for making informed decisions in supply chain management and transportation planning.
