EV-Carrying Ship Still on Fire Days After Blaze, Images Show

A fire broke out on the Morning Midas vessel, which was transporting around 800 electric vehicles, about 300 miles south of Adak Island in Alaska on June 3. The fire is still ongoing as of June 10, but no pollution has been detected, and the ship's structural integrity appears to be maintained. Zodiac Maritime, the ship's manager, has stated that recovery efforts are underway, with the first of three salvage vessels arriving on June 9 and additional support expected in the coming weeks. The U.S. Coast Guard continues to monitor the situation, indicating that the vessel is currently drifting at a speed of 1.8 mph.
