Pinch Acquires Levinge in Oil Field Freight Merger

Published: August 30, 2025
Pinch Transport has acquired Levinge Freight Lines, aiming to enhance its operations in flatbed less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload freight for the oil and natural gas sectors. Levinge, which has been in business since 1964 and operates multiple terminals across various states, specializes in LTL and expedited shipping services tailored for the oil field industry.

This acquisition is part of Pinch's strategy to address challenges in the current freight market characterized by surplus capacity and declining rates. Chairman Josh Oren emphasized the necessity of this consolidation to achieve economies of scale and provide efficient logistics solutions while remaining competitive on pricing. Dan Massalone, the new CEO of Pinch, echoed the importance of reliability and cost-effectiveness in meeting customer demands.

From a transportation industry perspective, consolidation among freight carriers can lead to improved efficiencies and enhanced service offerings. As companies face increasing competition and shifting market dynamics, mergers like this provide opportunities for organizations to combine resources, mitigate risks, and better position themselves for future growth. The strategic integration of operations and systems is crucial in realizing these benefits, ultimately leading to more streamlined logistics and potentially better service for customers in an evolving transportation landscape.
