Virginia Wins 2 New Logistics Investments

Published: August 20, 2025
Virginia has announced two significant logistics investments aimed at enhancing its e-commerce and distribution capabilities. MerryGoRound Inc., an e-commerce fulfillment company from North Carolina, will establish a $10 million hub in Pittsylvania County, repurposing the former AAF Tank Museum site into a 400,000-square-foot logistics and fulfillment center. This facility is expected to create over 200 jobs, focusing on logistics as well as creative roles like videographers, as it supports live-commerce initiatives on platforms like TikTok and Amazon. The state provided various incentives to secure this investment.

In addition, Land ‘N’ Sea Distributing Inc., a Florida-based company, is expanding its operations in Norfolk with a $1.1 million investment to nearly double the size of its facility. This expansion will allow them to increase inventory by adding roughly 5,000 new products and will create 29 additional jobs.

As an expert in transportation, I see these developments as crucial in strengthening Virginia's logistical infrastructure, particularly as e-commerce continues to surge. The strategic location of Virginia along the East Coast, coupled with enhanced facilities and workforce training programs, positions the state to potentially become a leading logistics hub. This approach not only creates jobs but also attracts a younger workforce eager to engage with modern commerce, making it vital for maintaining competitiveness in the evolving market landscape. Investing in workforce development alongside infrastructure is key to sustaining such growth in logistics and e-commerce sectors.
