The American Trucking Associations' Women in Motion Council and Trucker Path have identified the top three women-friendly truck stops in the US, reflecting a growing industry push to improve conditions for female drivers. These highlighted locations meet a full set of safety and amenity standards while earning high marks from women drivers.

Among the concerns women have at truck stops are safety, lighting, and access to essential facilities. The WIM designation is based on seven criteria developed from input by women drivers, including safe parking, clean restrooms, and secure storage options.

Truck stops that meet all seven standards and receive strong user ratings in the Trucker Path app were eligible for the Top 3 list. The highest-rated locations are Compass Travel Center, Love's Travel Stops, and Pilot Flying J.

Compass Travel Center also ranked No. 25 on Trucker Path's broader Top 100 Truck Stops list. Since integrating WIM-specific search functionality into its platform in 2024, more than 12,000 truck stops have added information about at least one WIM-friendly feature.

Nearly 250 locations now offer all seven WIM standards, underscoring the growing demand for this type of information. The WIM section of the app has been accessed over 64 million times, highlighting the importance of safe and welcoming truck stops for female drivers.

Industry leaders say improvements in lighting, security, and facility access are critical to driver well-being -- not just convenience. Expanding safe stopping options has been a key focus for the group, with partnerships like Trucker Path encouraging truck stop operators to upgrade amenities.

The partnership between WIM and Trucker Path aims to promote a culture of inclusivity and respect among truck drivers, particularly women. By providing a platform for users to filter stops based on safety-focused amenities, Trucker Path is helping to create a more supportive environment for female drivers.

Truck stop operators can add or update their amenity profiles within the platform, allowing them to showcase their commitment to WIM standards and attract more female customers.

As the industry continues to prioritize driver well-being, it's clear that safe and welcoming truck stops are essential for creating a positive experience for all drivers.
