Boston Public Schools is Installing 105 DC Fast Chargers
Boston Public Schools is adding another major block of depot-scale DC fast chargers as it pushes toward a fully electric bus fleet, highlighting the growing importance of charging infrastructure for large fleets in the Northeast region. The project, valued at $4 million, will see 105 DC fast chargers installed at the district's Freeport Bus Yard, marking one of the largest single-site school bus charging installations in the region. This initiative is part of Boston's effort to electrify all 750 of its roughly 750 school buses, a program described as the largest school bus electrification initiative in the Northeast. The chargers will utilize an above-ground mounting approach that relies on Jersey barriers rather than traditional trenching, a setup increasingly common for large bus and fleet depots where speed, cost control, and service access often take precedence over aesthetics. This design choice is consistent with Orion Energy Systems' previous work on Boston school bus charging projects, which have utilized the same above-ground mounting approach to speed installation and minimize site disruption. The project is being handled by Orion's Voltrek division, one of the company's largest customers. Boston Public Schools has partnered with Orion and Voltrek on multiple projects tied to its transition to electric buses, solidifying the district as a key player in the company's fleet electrification efforts. This initiative is not an isolated event, but rather part of a broader trend of charging infrastructure development for large fleets in the Northeast region. The company is involved in several other fleet electrification projects across the Northeast, including municipal deployments and electric van charging for school districts. As the charging market continues to mature, depot charging for buses, delivery vans, and municipal fleets is emerging as a critical segment that requires significant investment. With public DC fast charging still receiving most of the attention, depot charging is quietly becoming one of the most capital-intensive segments of the market. The growth of this segment is expected to be significant, with predictions suggesting an 8% growth in the US EV charging market by 2026. This growth will likely be driven by increasing demand for electric vehicles and alternative fuel options among fleets, as well as government incentives and regulations aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. As such, it is essential for fleet operators to plan ahead and invest in the necessary charging infrastructure to meet these growing demands.

Jeep Fixed These SUVs Once, But The Suspension Could Fall Off Anyway
The Jeep Wrangler's suspension system has been known to be prone to wear and tear over time. In the past, some owners have reported that even after having their vehicles repaired or replaced, the suspension could still fail due to its design or manufacturing issues. This issue is particularly noticeable in certain models of the Wrangler, such as the 1987-1995 models. The problem lies in the fact that these older models use a more complex suspension system which can be difficult to maintain and repair. Despite efforts by Jeep to address this issue through updates and recalls, some owners continue to experience problems with their suspension systems. In recent years, there have been reports of owners experiencing issues such as uneven tire wear, loose or worn-out components, and even complete failure of the suspension system. The causes of these failures can vary depending on several factors including driving conditions, maintenance habits, and the overall condition of the vehicle. While Jeep has made significant improvements to its manufacturing processes and designs, some owners are still left dealing with the consequences of a poorly designed or maintained suspension system. In this article, we will delve deeper into the history of this issue, explore possible causes, and discuss what Jeep is doing to address it.

Port of Virginia Advances Capacity with Addition of ULCV Berth
The Port of Virginia is continuing to modernize and expand its operations. Recently debuted additional capacity to safely handle simultaneous calls of ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs). In late January, the port put four new, all-electric berths into operation. These berths are designed to accommodate ULCVs, which can carry massive volumes of cargo. The expansion is part of the port's ongoing efforts to improve its efficiency and competitiveness. The addition of these berths will enable the port to handle larger vessels and increase its capacity for containerized cargo. This move is expected to have a positive impact on trade and commerce in the region. The Port of Virginia has been investing heavily in its infrastructure and operations in recent years. The new ULCV berths are just one example of this investment. The port's modernization efforts also include upgrades to its terminal facilities, equipment, and technology. These improvements aim to enhance the speed and efficiency of cargo handling, reducing transit times and costs for shippers. The Port of Virginia is well-positioned to meet the growing demands of the containerized cargo market. Its strategic location on the East Coast makes it an attractive option for importers and exporters looking to access the North American market. With its expanded capacity and modernized facilities, the port is poised to play a key role in shaping the future of global trade.

American Great Lakes Ports Launch Study to Expand Cargo Shipments
The American Great Lakes Ports Association (AGLPA), including members Ports of Indiana, the Illinois International Port District (IIPD), and Port Milwaukee, in partnership with the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (GLS), announced a comprehensive market analysis aimed at expanding cargo movement between the Great Lakes and Inland Waterways system. This study aims to leverage the river–lake connection to increase waterborne commerce, supporting critical American industries such as steelmaking, agriculture, energy, manufacturing, and other cargo. The current cargo shipment between the two systems is substantial, with close to 700 million tons of goods moved annually. However, only a small percentage of this cargo currently moves between the Great Lakes and inland rivers. The study will examine opportunities to increase waterborne commerce by evaluating market demand, identifying promising cargo flows, and exploring the infrastructure and operational needs required to support greater integration. By improving the flow of goods, especially exports that power the Heartland, the region can boost economic growth today and reinforce its nation's long-term competitiveness for generations to come. The study will also assess how expanded maritime service could improve supply chain reliability, support key industries, create jobs, and relieve pressure on congested highway corridors. The partnership between AGLPA, GLS, and member ports aims to strengthen maritime commerce and reinforce the region's vital role in the nation's supply chains.

VW's Super Bowl Ad Wants Drivers, But What It Really Needs Is Buyers
Super Bowl Sunday is right around the corner and automakers are starting to release their ads. Toyota got the ball rolling with a new spot for the 2026 RAV4 and now Volkswagen is following suit with a commercial of their own. Scheduled to debut during the second half, the 30-second ad is known as “The Great Invitation: Drivers Wanted.” It’s being billed as a reimagining of their classic Drivers Wanted campaign, which originally launched in the 1990’s. The commercial shows a series of invitations and aims to reverse VW's sales slide. This includes a dog inviting its owner to play, a woman inviting a friend to dance in the rain, and a group inviting a woman to go for a ride in an ID. Buzz. Various other vehicles are sprinkled in including the Jetta, Taos, and Tiguan. Volkswagen claims the spot has an “irreverent, infectious energy” and captures the “fresh energy of Volkswagen’s evolved brand direction.” The commercial was directed by Leigh Powis and follows Volkswagen’s last Super Bowl commercial , which was launched in 2024 to celebrate their 75 th anniversary in America. It’s a big bet from the brand as reports have suggested a 30-second spot cost around $7 million. Volkswagen needs all the help they can get as US sales fell 13% last year to 329,178 units. Things were so bad that every single model posted a decline, except for the ID. Buzz and ID.4. The company is hoping this Super Bowl ad will be a turning point in their sales strategy. With the automotive market being highly competitive, Volkswagen is trying to reinvigorate their brand image and appeal to new customers. By emphasizing the joy of driving a Volkswagen, they are aiming to attract buyers who may have been deterred by previous models. While it's unclear whether this ad will be enough to reverse their sales slide, it’s clear that Volkswagen is taking a bold step in an effort to revamp their brand and regain market share.

U.S. Approves License for Texas Deepwater Oil Export Port
The U.S. Transportation Department has approved a license for oil transportation and storage company Sentinel Midstream's planned deepwater oil export project off the Texas coast, marking a significant milestone in the country's efforts to boost its oil industry and production. The Texas GulfLink project, which is part of the Trump administration's initiative to enhance the U.S.'s ability to accommodate Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), will enable the export of up to 1 million barrels of crude oil per day. Located approximately 26.6 nautical miles off the coast of Brazoria County, Texas, the deepwater port is expected to significantly reduce vessel congestion and improve navigational safety by allowing for faster, cheaper, and more efficient cargo transfer. The project's approval is a result of the coordination between the U.S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration (MARAD) and various federal agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, in reviewing the application to ensure it meets strict safety and security standards. The Texas GulfLink project is also expected to create jobs at home and stability abroad, as stated by Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. With this approval, the U.S. crude exports have seen a significant rise, reaching an average of 4.4 million barrels per day in September, the highest since February 2024, according to the U.S. Energy Department. The project's completion is expected to further bolster the U.S. oil industry and production, aligning with President Donald Trump's efforts to promote faster approvals of projects that will help enhance the country's energy sector.

Kia's Electric Van Spotted in Michigan, Raises Hopes for US Launch
A white Kia PV5 Passenger electric van was recently spotted driving around Ann Arbor, Michigan, sparking hopes that the vehicle might finally be coming to the US market. The PV5 has been testing in the US since February and has been seen on American roads a few times before, but Kia has yet to confirm or deny its launch plans for the country. The latest sighting is notable because it features manufacturer's plates and side marker lights, which are required in the US but not found on other PV5 models sold globally. While some speculate that the PV5 might be coming to the US, others believe it could be testing for the Canadian market instead. Kia has already indefinitely delayed several US-bound EVs in the past, so it's hard to say what will happen next. The PV5 has earned global praise since its debut in early 2025 and is available in various configurations, including a Cargo model that is set to launch in Canada soon. The vehicle's modular E-GMP platform enables nearly any configuration, and Kia plans to introduce seven body types for the PV5 in total. As the US waits with bated breath for an official announcement, it remains to be seen whether the PV5 will finally make its way to American roads.

EPA Could Eliminate Limp Mode for Diesel Trucks Low on DEF

EPA Could Eliminate Limp Mode for Diesel Trucks Low on DEF
The United States Environmental Protection Agency has changed its stance on diesel trucks under the current administration. In contrast to previous versions of the EPA, which pursued massive penalties and even criminal fines for Clean Air Act violations, Administrator Lee Zeldin has made deregulation a major focus. He previously ordered manufacturers to stop forcing immediate limp mode on vehicles when diesel exhaust fluid runs low, and now, the EPA could take it a step further by eliminating power and speed restrictions completely. The agency announced this change with a strongly worded press release, seeking information from top 14 manufacturers of on-road and off-road vehicles that use DEF systems. Specifically, it's requesting data regarding warranty claims, failure rates, and repairs on model years 2016, 2019, and 2023 to determine if emissions system-related issues are concentrated on one generation of equipment or spread out. Manufacturers could face additional inquiries or penalties if they don't provide the requested data within 30 days. Historically, truck and agricultural equipment manufacturers would derate engine performance immediately when running low on DEF. Zeldin's previous edict allowed diesel pickups to run normally for 4,200 miles or 80 hours with low DEF levels before being governed to 45 mph. The EPA is now assessing whether these limitations are necessary for compliance. Diesel truck drivers have long complained about the reliability, fuel economy, and performance issues associated with DEF and related emissions control systems. If the EPA decides to eliminate limp mode, it could significantly impact how users manage their diesel trucks' performance. The change would likely be welcomed by many drivers who currently add DEF to their trucks solely to avoid reduced performance. However, the environmental concerns surrounding DEF usage are still a topic of debate. As the EPA considers this major overhaul, it's essential to weigh the potential benefits against the potential drawbacks. The agency's decision will have significant implications for the diesel truck industry and its users. With the EPA seeking information from top manufacturers, it remains to be seen whether they will ultimately eliminate limp mode for diesel trucks low on DEF.

The data-driven car search and research company analyzed over 900,000 five- and 10-year-old used cars sold between July and December 2025, as well as the odometer readings of almost 400 million used cars from its Longest Lasting Cars Study. By comparing the average list price of each model to its expected lifespan in years, iSeeCars calculated the list price per year to determine which used car costs the least to keep running for the rest of its service life. The winner for five-year-old cars is the Honda Fit, with an average one- to five-year-old used price of $18,445 and an expected remaining lifespan of 10.9 years, resulting in an annual cost of $1,693 per year. For 10-year-old cars, the Nissan Leaf takes the top spot, with an average list price of $5,675 and an expected remaining lifespan of 5.1 years, at a price per remaining year of $1,108. However, the Tesla Model S may be the best option for those seeking a longer-term electric vehicle solution, despite being more expensive than the Leaf. The full study is available here, providing valuable insights into reliability and cost considerations when buying a used vehicle. According to iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer, even 10-year-old used cars average over $14,000 in cost, making reliability and remaining lifespan crucial factors to consider when purchasing a used car.
Honda Prelude Sales Continue to Struggle Despite Improved January Numbers

Honda Prelude Sales Continue to Struggle Despite Improved January Numbers
The Honda Prelude has seen an improvement in its sales numbers for January, but it still remains below the company's target of 300 units per month. The coupe has been on sale since December and has managed to deliver just 216 units so far, a significant increase from its first full month of sales in December when only 174 units were sold. Despite this, Honda is still short of its goal for the model. One possible reason for this could be markups placed by dealers nationwide, with some cases seeing prices over $10,000 above the MSRP. This may be deterring potential customers from purchasing the Prelude. On a more positive note, other models within the Honda and Acura brands have seen strong sales numbers in January, including the CR-V, Pilot, Civic, Odyssey, Passport, and ADX crossover. The demand for these models is likely driving growth for the company as a whole. However, it's clear that the Prelude still needs to find its footing in the market. Honda has stated plans to deliver 4,000 Preludes annually, making it more popular than the Subaru BRZ if buyers materialize. For now, though, the Prelude remains an underperforming model for the company. The strong sales of other models within the brand may help to offset this, but the Prelude's struggles are a concern for Honda. As the market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how the Prelude adapts and whether it can meet its target sales numbers.

A Mustang Rolled, A McLaren’s Destroyed, And Everyone’s Guessing Why
A McLaren and Mustang were wrecked in a San Juan area crash. McLaren likely a 570S, Mustang appears to be a GT from 2015–2017. Authorities have not confirmed whether street racing was involved. Supercars taking on muscle cars is a battle that dates back several decades. In fact, it’s the type of racing that isn’t limited to just one continent or region. That’s evident after photos popped up of a serious crash involving a Ford Mustang and a McLaren 650S that appears to have taken place in Puerto Rico. While full details are still unclear, the Puerto Rico Police (PPR) released images of the aftermath, and early reports suggest street racing may have played a role. More: This Will Be The Last Fast & Furious Movie, For Real This Time The pictures, which started circulating online over the weekend, show an orange McLaren with significant rear-end and driver’s side damage. Debris is scattered across the roadway, while fluid stains are visible on the pavement leading to the six-figure vehicle. In a separate aerial shot, we can see a yellow Ford Mustang on the curb nearby. It’s sitting on its driver’s side near some grass. Photos Policia PDR The Ford has damage to both bumpers, the hazard lights are on, and in a short video, we see a little more of the aftermath. Several individuals work together to try to flip the pony car back onto its tires, but it’s unclear if they ever managed to pull it off. While it’s tough to say without local verification or better images, the Ford appears to be a 2015–2017 Ford Mustang GT, identifiable by its quad exhaust setup and S550-generation rear styling. The McLaren seems to be a 570S , , based on the rear fascia and signature taillights. If correct, it rolled out of the factory in Woking with 562 hp (570 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. Clearly, that’s more than enough power to get into trouble. Put these two cars together and they boast over 1,000 horsepower combined. While there are no public details just yet on exactly how the cars came to rest in this manner, many who’ve shared the images and video online have pointed to street racing as the likely cause. That sort of activity has long been an issue in Puerto Rico. These photos provide a stark reminder of just how fast things can go sideways , whether racing was involved or not.

This Is Why Buying One Of These Mercedes New Makes No Sense
This GLS600 shed a huge chunk of value after very few miles. Letting the first owner take the hit can save serious money. Two tone paint alone added $18,500 to the window sticker. There’s no shortage of plush SUVs on the market, but few lean into opulence quite like the Mercedes-Maybach GLS600. Still, for all its lavish appeal, the GLS600 shares a common and rather unglamorous trait with many other high-end Mercedes models: brutal depreciation. Read: Rearview Mirrors Might Fall Off These High-End Mercedes And Maybach SUVs If you’re thinking of buying one new and happen to care about resale value, you may want to think twice. Take this 2025 GLS600, for example. Only recently acquired by its current lessee for $207,300, it was listed for auction on Bring a Trailer, with 2,600 miles (about 4,180 km) on the odometer. And this isn’t some outdated model either, as it’s a 2025 model year vehicle first registered at the end of August 2025. Despite its near-new condition, the GLS600 changed hands for $157,600, slicing nearly $50,000 off its original sale price. You could buy a brand-new base Mercedes-Benz C-Class for that money! That’s a loss of roughly $19 for every mile it’s been driven, not exactly the kind of efficiency most buyers have in mind. A peek at the original window sticker reveals this GLS an MSRP of $178,450 before extras. The most eye-catching option? A two-tone Cirrus Silver and Obsidian Black Metallic paint job that alone cost $18,500. It’s a steep price for paint, but it does look spectacular. Other extras push the total even higher. There are $800 champagne flute holders, $5,500 23-inch forged wheels, a pair of $1,800 folding rear tables, and a $1,100 fridge discreetly built into the center console. Bring a Trailer There’s perhaps no better way to describe the GLS600 than a palace on wheels. While the front seats look incredibly comfortable, and the dashboard design is among the classiest of any current Mercedes model, it’s the second row that really stands out. After all, a Maybach isn’t necessarily the type of vehicle you want to drive . The legroom and headroom for the two captain’s chairs at the rear are immense, and the seats, door panels, and transmission tunnel are finished in the finest Nappa leather. Then there’s the aforementioned fridge in the rear center console and the champagne flute holders, allowing passengers to sip France’s finest while being chauffeured to their next business meeting. It’s a remarkable place to spend time, no question. Just be sure to let someone else take the first financial hit. Bring a Trailer

Hyundai and Kia Net Record Hybrid Sales as Toyota Stagnates

Hyundai and Kia Net Record Hybrid Sales as Toyota Stagnates
Hybrids are booming. About 22% of new cars sold in the U.S. in the first quarter of last year were hybrids per U.S. data, and that number has likely only increased since—especially at Hyundai and Kia . Both brands have released their figures for January, and Hyundai, in particular, moved 60% more hybrids last month compared to January 2025. By contrast, Toyota , which had already saturated its lineup with electrified vehicles, saw a slight dip in hybrid sales. Hyundai entered the year with a new hybrid in the family, by way of the 2026 Palisade . The three-row SUV has been one of the brand’s most popular products in recent years, but the recently discontinued first-gen never offered a hybrid powertrain. Hyundai shifted 8,604 of them in total, hybrid and gas-only, last month, compared to 6,687 a year prior, translating to a 29% gain for the nameplate. The smaller Santa Fe also saw a 9% bump, rising from 8,296 to 9,011 units. Kia also enjoyed a strong January, to the tune of 64,502 total unit sales. Of those, electrified models sold 45% better versus a year earlier, though it’s worth noting that “electrified” also includes fully electric cars, like the EV9 . In any case, this should portend good things for Kia through 2026, as the new Telluride Hybrid, unlike its Palisade counterpart, hasn’t landed at dealers yet. The Kia Sportage led the brand’s lineup last month, with 13,984 sold. Kia This early 2026 performance shows that Hyundai and Kia still had a ways to go in terms of boosting hybrid penetration of their overall sales mix, and we’ll see how much further they can push that. Eventually, their stories may sound more like Toyota’s. Including Lexus’ products, the Japanese automaker moved 79,561 electrified vehicles last month. That’s very healthy, but it’s actually 6% fewer than in January of the previous year. Those electrified cars nevertheless comprised 45% of everything Toyota sold last month, continuing a streak of hybrid dominance that defined Toyota’s 2025 here in North America. Got a tip? Louis Vuitton Built A Tiny Truck That Costs More Than Your House
Carscoops·Automotive·Feb 3, 2026
Louis Vuitton Built A Tiny Truck That Costs More Than Your House
Louis Vuitton built a table clock shaped like a 1920s delivery van. Its body is gold plated and covered with nearly 1,700 diamonds. A manual wind mechanism runs for eight days on a single wind. While watches inspired by car culture usually live on the wrist , Louis Vuitton has taken a rather curious detour. Its latest creation is meant for the desk. The French fashion house has introduced the “Camionnette,” a high-concept mechanical table clock modeled after 1920s delivery vans. The timepiece was developed by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton in collaboration with Swiss clockmaker L’Epée 1839. While the design isn’t tied to a specific model, it strongly resembles the Citroen B10 vans of that era. These vehicles once ferried Louis Vuitton’s leather trunks to clients across France, doubling as rolling advertisements. More: Rolls Rolls On Rolex Submariner Wheels Because Restraint Is For The Poor All that sounds fine and dandy, until you get to the price. The “Edition Limitee” will run you a staggering €650,000 (that’s $766,500 or £542,000, if you’re curious), and that’s for one of just 15 in existence. What’s It Made Of, Gold? So why does a desk clock cost more than a brand-new Lamborghini Revuelto? Well, it mostly comes down to the materials and craftsmanship, though we all know the prestigious name on the side plays a big part too. I mean, just look at the prices of LV’s bags. In this case, the Camionnette Edition Limitee features a gold-plated metal body, painstakingly adorned by hand with 1,695 diamonds totaling 41.44 carats. More: TAG Heuer Built A Hypercar-Inspired Watch That Costs As Much As A Supercar Diamonds cover the polished grille, headlights, and roof edges, with red and orange sapphires standing in for taillights. Still, the centerpiece of the 7 kg (15.4 lbs) model is a 0.51-carat LV Monogram diamond perched right on the radiator . Beneath the hood, two rotating cylinders display the time in hours and minutes. In the cabin, a ticking balance wheel reveals the mechanical heart: the manual-wind Calibre MV.7417/101, offering an eight-day power reserve. To keep the clock running, the owner must wind it manually using a gold-plated steel key. This tool is styled after the old-school hand cranks used to fire up vintage engines and is housed in a miniature Louis Vuitton trunk tucked neatly in the bed of the truck. As expected, the tiny case is made from authentic Monogram canvas , wood, and brass, staying true to the brand’s travel heritage. If $767K Feels a Bit Much For those whose budget doesn’t stretch into supercar territory for a table clock, there’s also a standard edition of the Camionnette available for considerably less, though we’re pretty sure you’ll balk at the price. More: When The Real Thing Costs Over Half A Million, You Settle For This This version keeps the same mechanical setup and design spirit, priced at a still-hefty but comparatively modest €68,000 ($80,200). Rather than precious metals and stones, it features a lightweight aluminum and steel body finished in a saffron and blue color scheme that nods to Louis Vuitton’s historic palette. So, would you rather have a miniature truck that quietly ticks away on your desk, or spend the same money on a high-end watch and car combo? Louis Vuitton

Toyota’s 620-Mile Solid-State EV Plan Just Got A Major Boost From Big Oil

Toyota’s 620-Mile Solid-State EV Plan Just Got A Major Boost From Big Oil
Toyota’s first solid-state EVs expected by 2027 or 2028. Electrolyte factory construction begins via Idemitsu Kosan. Targets up to 1,000 km range and 10-minute charging. For years, Toyota has talked up the promise of solid-state batteries for EVs. Now, that long-running effort is inching toward something tangible. Late last week, Japanese oil refiner Idemitsu Kosan, which is working with Toyota on solid-state battery development, announced it has started building a facility to manufacture advanced solid electrolytes. The electrolytes made at the factory are destined for Toyota’s solid-state battery packs. Idemitsu Kosan has already achieved success with two smaller demonstration facilities and expects to complete work on the new pilot plant by the end of 2027. Read: Everyone Said Toyota Was Late To EVs, Now It’s About To Lead Them If the project stays on track, the company could be producing several hundred tons of solid electrolyte annually, according to a report from Reuters . Toyota’s collaboration extends beyond Idemitsu. It’s also working with Sumitomo Metal Mining, a Japanese mining group, to secure high-performance cathode materials. These are essential to solid-state battery cells, along with advanced anodes and the electrolytes themselves. Better Range, Quicker Charging A roadmap published by Toyota in late 2023 indicated it aims to launch its first generation of solid-state batteries in 2027-2028, allowing EVs to deliver up to 1,000 km (620 miles) of range and charge from 10-80 percent in roughly 10 minutes. A second generation is already under development and aims to extend the range to 1,200 kilometers (745 miles), with further reductions in charging time likely. Toyota is among the many car manufacturers invested heavily in solid-state batteries. Last year, Mercedes started testing an EQS with a solid-state pack, covering 748.8 miles on a single charge during a recent test. Last year, the new MG 4 was introduced with a semi-solid-state battery that uses just 5 percent liquid electrolyte.

Jaguar Tunes 1,000-Horsepower Electric GT in Extreme Cold
Jaguar is pushing ahead with prototypes of its new all-electric four-door luxury GT with a round of cold-weather testing deep inside the Arctic Circle. The latest development phase is taking place on frozen lakes near Arjeplog, Sweden, a familiar proving ground for manufacturers dialing in traction and stability tuning in the extreme cold. Jaguar says the Arctic program is part of the most comprehensive validation effort it’s undertaken, involving 150 prototypes covering hundreds of thousands of miles across deserts, sub-zero environments, and in advanced virtual testing systems. Engineers are using the harsh conditions to tune the GT’s electric propulsion, chassis, and control systems. The as-yet-unnamed four-door GT will feature more than 1,000 horsepower, making it the most powerful production Jaguar ever, delivered through a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system with Intelligent Torque Vectoring. Jaguar says the winter testing allows it to refine drive modes and calibrations for its all-wheel steering, dynamic air suspension, active twin-valve dampers, and a new 23-inch winter tire. The Arctic conditions are also ideal for testing Jaguar’s ThermAssist thermal management system, which is designed to reduce heating energy consumption by up to 40% while recovering waste heat to warm the cabin or propulsion system. This technology aims to help preserve driving range in cold climates. Jaguar has always been about driving pleasure and our new electric four-door GT will be no different, says Matt Becker, Vehicle Engineering Director. The all-electric four-door GT is expected to be revealed later this year and will follow the design direction previewed by the Jaguar Type 00 concept.

Dario Franchitti Is Back 13 Years After Retiring, Driving a NASCAR Truck
After a 13-year hiatus from racing, Dario Franchitti has made an unexpected return to the sport in one of its most unusual forms: a NASCAR Truck. The four-time IndyCar champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner is set to compete in a new event supporting IndyCar's Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, driving a Toyota for TRICON Garage. This marks the second surprise return in the Truck Series this year, following Tony Stewart's announcement that he will be racing an all-star truck at Daytona. Franchitti's decision to re-enter NASCAR comes after a brief stint in historic racing and a return to competition in a GT3 car at the Dubai 24 Hour. Despite his impressive resume, which includes 31 wins and four IndyCar championships, Franchitti has been out of the spotlight for nearly two decades. His experience in stock cars dates back to the early 2000s, when he competed in partial seasons in both the Cup Series and O'Reilly Auto Parts Series before returning to open wheelers. The 52-year-old driver was medically cleared to return to racing in 2019 and has been slowly building up his competition schedule. Franchitti's decision to re-enter NASCAR is a testament to his dedication to the sport, despite the risks involved. With his impressive skills and experience, he is sure to be a force to be reckoned with on the track.
