Seattle's New Whale Watching Catamaran Set to Debut

Seattle is set to welcome its newest addition to the whale watching scene with the launch of the Emerald Clipper, a 103-foot catamaran designed by One2Three Naval Architects in Australia. The vessel has been commissioned by FRS Clipper and will offer two daily sailings during the summer season.

The Emerald Clipper boasts an impressive array of amenities, including two expansive viewing decks, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a galley serving hot meals. Its sleek design allows it to cruise at speeds of up to 32 knots while maintaining low wake and fuel efficiency.

Compared to FRS Clipper's previous vessel, the San Juan Clipper, the Emerald Clipper is over 50% more fuel efficient at high speeds. This eco-friendly feature will significantly reduce the vessel's environmental impact.

The new catamaran also features a dedicated naturalist station where guests can deepen their understanding of the region's rich marine life. This unique amenity will provide passengers with an immersive whale watching experience.

Jo Mihok, a long-time Clipper employee, has been honored as the Emerald Clipper Godmother. Her dedication to the company and its history is reflected in her role, which represents trust and connection to Clipper's tradition and future.

The Emerald Clipper's arrival marks an exciting milestone for FRS Clipper, which is also celebrating its 40th anniversary of connecting Seattle and Victoria through their fast ferry service. This expansion into whale watching will further solidify the company's position in the region's tourism industry.

The Only Seattle Wildlife & Whale Watching Tour will begin operating in May, offering passengers a unique opportunity to explore Puget Sound on this state-of-the-art vessel. With its advanced design and eco-friendly features, the Emerald Clipper is poised to revolutionize the whale watching experience in Seattle.

As the region's only whale watching tour operator based in downtown Seattle, the Emerald Clipper will provide an unparalleled level of convenience for passengers. Its proximity to the city center and efficient sailings will make it an attractive option for tourists and locals alike.

The Emerald Clipper's launch is a testament to FRS Clipper's commitment to innovation and sustainability. As the tourism industry continues to evolve, companies like FRS Clipper are leading the way in eco-friendly practices and unique experiences.
