Anschütz Delivers Cutting-Edge Bridge System for German Vessel

The German Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration has awarded Anschütz a contract to upgrade the bridge system of the multi-purpose vessel Arkona. This project aims to bring the ship's navigation and bridge systems up to the latest technological standards.

The new Anschütz SYNAPSIS Integrated Bridge System (IBS) will consolidate all relevant navigation information within a unified and consistent user interface, providing the crew with full situational awareness and control at all times. The system includes multifunctional workstations for radar, ECDIS, and conning applications.

The bridge upgrade is complemented by the new Anschütz solid-state transceiver, delivering high-fidelity raw radar video directly to the bridge applications. This technology enhances the accuracy of navigation data and provides a safer working environment for the crew.

Additionally, the project includes modern sensors that provide accurate data for navigation and situational assessment. These sensors will enable the vessel's crew to make more informed decisions in complex operational situations.

The factory acceptance test at Anschütz facilities in Kiel was successfully completed in March, with customer representatives able to see firsthand the system's performance and intuitive operation.

By standardizing bridge systems across the fleet, the WSV reduces complexity for maintenance and service processes. This also enables seamless rotation of crews between vessels, improving overall operational efficiency.

The project builds on experience gained from new multi-purpose vessels currently being constructed at Abeking & Rasmussen, which are also equipped with Anschütz systems. Standardization will simplify spare parts management and reduce costs.

Arkona's bridge team will benefit from the latest generation of intelligent navigation technology, tailored to the demanding operational profile of a high-performance multi-purpose vessel.

The integration of advanced navigation systems in vessels like Arkona sets a new standard for the maritime industry, emphasizing the importance of safety, efficiency, and technological advancements.
