DOF Group has secured four 12-year charter and services contracts in Brazil following a competitive tender process, supporting Petrobras' deepwater subsea inspection, maintenance and repair operations. The company will construct four new remotely operated vehicle support vessels to meet these demands. These vessels are expected to begin operations from 2030.
The construction of the newbuilds is expected to be carried out by Brazil's Navship yard, with delivery of the first two planned within four years of contract signing. The new vessels will be DP2-class, designed for deepwater operations and equipped with offshore subsea cranes and two work-class remotely operated vehicles.
The four newbuilds will feature hybrid propulsion systems using ethanol, diesel and battery packs, providing a more environmentally friendly option for the fleet. The vessels will also accommodate up to 58 people and be approximately 98 metres long.
DOF said the total contract value is close to $2 billion, with operations expected to begin from 2030. The company is considering alternative ownership structures for the vessels as part of its financial strategy.
The contracts, operation of the vessels, and full scope of services will be entirely performed by and remain the sole responsibility of DOF Subsea Brasil. Any alternative arrangements will not affect these contractual obligations.
Winning these contracts enables low-risk growth and environmentally friendly fleet renewal for DOF Subsea Brasil. The four newbuilds will add valuable import tonnage capacity for international vessels into one of the most attractive subsea markets globally.
The long-term nature of these contracts highlights the stability of the offshore oil and gas market in Brazil, showing that services will be in demand for decades to come.
DOF Group's CEO, Mons S. Aase, expressed pride in winning these contracts, stating that they demonstrate the company's position as a leading player for subsea inspection, maintenance and repair services in the Brazilian market.
The four newbuilds will add significant value to DOF Subsea Brasil's fleet, enabling it to capitalize on the growing demand for subsea services in Brazil.
