Tug Vehicle Collision Causes Airport Chaos

A tragic accident at Orlando International Airport has resulted in the death of a Delta Air Lines ground crew member. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 7, just before 11:00 PM, when an airport tug vehicle collided with a jet bridge while a Delta Airbus A321 was parked at the gate.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but authorities have confirmed that the tug vehicle hit the jet bridge, causing significant damage. As a result, passengers who had boarded the aircraft were forced to disembark via airstairs at the rear door.

Delta immediately suspended its operations at MCO and canceled the affected flight to Minneapolis, while authorities launched an investigation into the tragic accident. The airline has released a statement of condolence to the staff member's family and friends.

The Delta ground worker who died was a 49-year-old man from Orlando, with multiple blunt impact injuries confirmed by the medical report. The aircraft involved, a Delta A321-200, can accommodate up to 191 people and had passengers on board at the time of the accident.

Passengers onboard other aircraft gearing up for departure reported multiple emergency vehicles attending the crash scene, while some initially believed it was part of an emergency drill until they were informed by the pilot that the scene was real.

The incident has caused significant disruptions to air travel, with scores of flights at MCO affected by delays. Flights scheduled to depart from other airports en route to Orlando were also impacted, and a handful of aircraft already in the air diverted to other airports.
