Qatar Airways has announced an extraordinary new route that will take passengers from Doha Hamad International Airport to Bogotá and Caracas, marking the first time the oneworld member has had passenger flights to Colombia and Venezuela. The airline's South American network now expands to three destinations, joining São Paulo, which has been part of its network since 2010.
The new route will be operated by the Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, offering QSuites and Starlink amenities on board. The flight duration is an impressive 20 hours and 10 minutes, including ground time, making it Qatar Airways' longest passenger link in its entire network after the Auckland route.
Interestingly, the airline's website shows that the first day's service will run DOH-CCS-BOG-DOH, which may seem unusual due to Bogotá's high elevation and the long distance back to the Gulf. However, from the second service onward, the routing will change to DOH-BOG-CCS-DOH, enabling a higher passenger and freight payload.

The new route will only be served twice-weekly, with passengers able to fly in one direction between Bogotá and Caracas. It is not yet clear if fifth freedom rights will exist between the two cities.
Qatar Airways has taken a unique approach to promoting its new route by offering a 'simple flying quiz' on its website, which aims to educate customers about the challenges of ultra-long flights.
The Boeing 777-200LR aircraft deployed for this route is capable of carrying either 272 or 276 seats. QSuites and Starlink will be available on board, providing passengers with a comfortable and connected travel experience.

This new ultra-long flight is expected to have a significant impact on the airline's customer base, particularly those traveling between Doha and South America.
The route's unusual routing and limited frequency may deter some travelers, but for those willing to take on the challenge, Qatar Airways promises an unforgettable journey.
As the airline continues to expand its network and innovate its services, it is clear that Qatar Airways remains committed to providing exceptional customer experiences.

This new ultra-long flight is a testament to Qatar Airways' commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
