Wilson Sons, a leading port and shipping logistics operator, has launched its second tugboat, WS Capella, in the Port of Santos. The vessel is part of the company's fleet renewal and expansion strategy, which aims to modernize its operations and improve environmental sustainability. WS Capella, like its predecessor WS Halcyon, was built at the company's shipyard and features an ASD 2312 class design. The new tugboat is 23 meters long and 12 meters wide, with azimuth thrusters and a capacity to handle ships operating in Brazil during docking and undocking maneuvers.
The vessel's modern design allows for reduced fuel consumption, contributing to lower emissions and improved environmental performance. Additionally, WS Capella is equipped with a fire-fighting system capable of handling up to 2,400,000 liters/hour of water.
The launch ceremony was attended by Flávia Carvalho, Executive Director of Wilson Sons Shipping Agency, who will serve as the godmother of the vessel. This marks an important milestone in Wilson Sons' efforts to expand its fleet and improve operational capabilities.
With the introduction of WS Capella, Wilson Sons strengthens its presence in the Port of Santos, one of the largest port complexes in Latin America. The new tugboat will operate alongside other ASD 2312 class vessels, enhancing the company's ability to handle large ships and reduce environmental impact.
