This Clever Dealer Will Sell You a Sportier 2026 Sentra That Nissan Won’t Build

The Nissan Sentra once boasted a performance-oriented variant to rival the Honda Civic Si and VW Golf GTI, specifically the 200-horsepower Sentra SE-R Spec V, which ceased production in 2012. Since then, Nissan has not indicated any plans to reintroduce a sporty version of the Sentra. However, one innovative Nissan dealer is seizing the opportunity to fill this gap by creating a custom sporty Sentra for enthusiasts.

Nick Scherr, known as “NISMO Nick,” is not only a Nissan dealer but also a YouTuber and custom car builder. His unique background positions him well to develop a semi-official trim level for the Sentra, which he is calling the “SE RS” (Special Edition Rally Sport). This special edition is based on the Sentra SR, the second-highest trim level, which starts at a base price of $25,000. For an additional $6,995, buyers can enhance their Sentra with a range of NISMO performance parts and custom features.

The SE RS package includes NISMO Coilovers, NISMO LM-RS6 Wheels, a NISMO Cat-back exhaust, and custom interior touches along with badging. While the official Nismo coilovers for the 2026 Sentra have yet to be confirmed, previous models had adjustable coilovers priced at around $995. Similarly, the exhaust system for the outgoing model was available for approximately $850. The LM-RS6 wheels, which are visually appealing six-spoke designs, are priced around $330 each, depending on size and color.

The total cost for these upgrades, including good tires, could range from $4,500 to $5,000. Installation by the dealership would add another $2,000, which, while not cheap, is considered reasonable for a custom build. Scherr has emphasized that the SE RS is designed as a turn-key build, assembled in-house at Pinnacle Nissan in Scottsdale, AZ, and offered directly for sale without the need for aftermarket modifications.

Looking ahead, Scherr has hinted at an even more exciting development: a turbocharged SE RS equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission is expected to be released later this year. This move not only showcases the dealer's commitment to performance but also reflects a growing trend within the automotive market where dealers take the initiative to meet consumer demand for sportier vehicles.
