The newest Mercedes-Benz S-class is notably updated, but you might not be able to tell unless it's nighttime. This generation of S-class debuted as a 2021 model, and the 2027 redo does not bring a full-on redesign—more of a heavy mid-cycle refresh.
Mercedes characterizes it as the most extensive update of its kind, with more than half of the components new or revised. The car's new light signature is evident to onlookers, featuring three-pointed-star headlamp and taillamp elements, an illuminated grille, and even a light-up hood ornament.
Inside, Benz's Hyperscreen finally comes to the S-class, offering a dash-spanning piece of glass that incorporates three different displays. The latest MBUX system now incorporates Google automotive AI, allowing for humanization of its digital helper.
Optional rear-seat screens are larger than before, and integrated cameras enable video conferencing capability. The 2027 S-class also adds heated front seatbelts and digital vent control, making it the first car available with these features.
The three model designations remain unchanged, but the engines have been revised to produce more horsepower. All S-class variants continue to use a nine-speed automatic transmission and power all four wheels.
This mid-cycle refresh is a testament to Mercedes' commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. By updating more than half of its components, the 2027 S-class offers a noticeable yet subtle evolution that enhances the overall driving experience.
