Citroen has introduced the ë-C3, positioning it as the first affordable European electric car in competition with Chinese EV manufacturers. The vehicle, priced under €25,000, features a 44kWh battery pack offering a range of up to 320 km. The European Automobile Manufacturers' Association mentions incentives in 20 EU countries for purchasing electric cars, showing a reduction in the total cost of ownership compared to traditional cars. Citroen's CEO, Thierry Koskas, highlights the company's focus on meeting the European demand for a cost-effective, regionally produced electric vehicle. This development occurs amidst a scrutiny of low-cost Chinese electric cars in Europe, stirring tensions between the EU and China over market distortions. As the electric vehicle market is critical for sustainability, balancing competition and trade relations will be key for stakeholders in the transportation industry.
