The UK is facing a growing crisis as the cost of fuel continues to rise, with many businesses and individuals feeling the pinch. The current situation is becoming increasingly difficult for those who rely on fuel for their livelihoods, whether it's commuting or running a business. With prices continuing to tick upwards, it's no wonder that campaigners are calling for action from the government.

According to recent figures from FairFuelUK, 36.4% of UK sole traders believe that current fuel prices could push their businesses to the brink. This is not just a concern for small business owners, but also for bikers and drivers who rely on fuel for their daily commutes. The knock-on effect of rising fuel prices is already being felt, with many people struggling to make ends meet.

The founder of FairFuelUK, Howard Cox, is calling on Chancellor Rachel Reeves to freeze fuel duty for the rest of this Parliament and preferably start cutting it now, especially on diesel. Backed by 1.8 million supporters, Cox's campaign is gaining momentum as more and more people join the call for action.

A wider poll cited by FairFuelUK suggests that nearly 79,000 respondents want duty reduced immediately, with a staggering 95.4% of those polled supporting this move. The group is also calling for VAT on fuel to be scrapped and for some sort of watchdog to be brought in to stop fuel retailers from doing whatever they fancy.
