Peterbilt Rolls Out SmartLINQ Prognostics Software Addition
Published: July 18, 2024
Peterbilt has expanded the rollout of its Prognostics diagnostics software, which is designed to predict and prevent engine failures for Peterbilt trucks equipped with specific engines. This software, part of the SmartLINQ platform, aims to catch potential issues before they lead to major problems, such as camshaft, head gasket, or turbocharger failures. The development of Prognostics involved advanced data monitoring and analysis, requiring large artificial intelligence programs and the involvement of the Paccar Technical Center. According to Peterbilt Director-After Sales Bruce Croker, the importance of early detection and maintenance scheduling can help minimize downtime for truck owners. The integration of Prognostics into regular maintenance routines can be particularly beneficial for older trucks, enhancing their longevity and performance. This approach emphasizes the proactive management of maintenance needs to ensure the continuous operation and reliability of commercial vehicles.
