S. residents and camping property managers across all 50 states, has found that one in six campers reported being negatively impacted by federal government actions in 2025.
S. history, and staffing cuts at national parks throughout the country were the primary causes of disruption.
Campers from historically marginalized groups were disproportionately affected, with one in three LGBTQ+ campers and one in five BIPOC campers reporting a disrupted experience. Private camping property owners and managers were also significantly impacted, with nearly one in four reporting negative effects on their business.
The survey results highlight the need for greater accessibility and inclusivity in national parks and camping experiences. According to Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt, 'Some of the greatest natural spaces in the United States of America are in our amazing national parks...
' The survey also found that campers identify as politically independent at a rate more than twice the national average, with 23% of respondents leaning neither Republican nor Democrat.
