Playground Games is finally taking the arcade-inspired racing game series to Japan with Forza Horizon 6. The studio gave a detailed first look at the forthcoming installation, set to release on Xbox on May 19.

The map represents a mix of modern and traditional, rural and urban environments, with Tokyo City being five times larger than any previous urban setting. The gameplay features open-world environments inspired by famous real-life routes like the C1 Loop and Ginkgo Avenue, as well as Daikoku PA-style car meets for players to join with their friends.

The game's design director emphasizes the importance of capturing the feel of a place rather than its accuracy, using references from roads, landmarks, and sounds to create an authentic experience. With over 550 different vehicles, customizable liveries, and expansive estate gameplay, Forza Horizon 6 promises to be a thrilling ride.

Players will embark on a campaign where they start as a tourist earning their place on the Horizon roster, completing wristbands to advance the plot and participating in downhill mountain pass competitions and time attack circuits seamlessly integrated into the world. The game's attention to detail and immersive gameplay make it an exciting addition to the series.
