In a dramatic incident just days before Christmas, a suspect stole a box truck in Santa Monica and led police on a chase through West Los Angeles, ultimately ending in Beverly Hills. The Beverly Hills Police Department released footage of the chase, which culminated in a PIT maneuver that caused the truck to spin 180 degrees but surprisingly did not flip over despite the heavy impact.
The chase began on December 19, when the suspect, driving the box truck, made a left turn through a red light, signaling their turn. As the truck turned, a police cruiser struck its rear quarter, executing the PIT maneuver.
Remarkably, the truck came to a stop after spinning around, allowing the driver to exit the vehicle and attempt to flee on foot. However, the driver was quickly pursued by several police officers and was tackled shortly after realizing escape was futile.
As of now, authorities have not disclosed any charges against the suspect, but the incident highlights the risks associated with high-speed chases, especially involving larger vehicles like box trucks.
