Lotus Delivers First Batch Of EVs To Canada

Lotus Cars, a British performance marque owned by Geely, has made history by shipping its first batch of 18 electric vehicles to Canada. The milestone delivery comes under Ottawa's revised trade framework with Beijing, which replaced a punitive 100 percent surtax on Chinese-made EVs with a reduced 6.1 percent tariff for up to 49,000 vehicles annually. This strategic move positions Geely for premium luxury SUV sales in the Canadian market.

The shipment marks a significant step forward for Lotus Technology's Wuhan manufacturing facility, which built the all-electric Eletre SUV before loading it onto ships bound for Canada. The company's use of this facility demonstrates its commitment to expanding its global presence and diversifying its supply chains.
