Airbus A380 Flights Suspended on Major Routes

The Airbus A380 will not return as planned from its Dubai International Airport hub to Perth International Airport or Václav Havel Airport Prague, Emirates revealed in the latest schedule update.

This is another consequence of the war in Iran, which has affected airlines globally as they seek to reduce their fuel bill and exposure to the Gulf region.

Compared to last week, Emirates has removed another 7% of A380 flights in May/June, on top of previous reductions.

The airline's Double-Decker Services To PER have been significantly impacted by the war, with the equipment last departing from the UAE for Western Australia on March 14.

Since then, the Airbus A350-900 has mainly been used instead, although the Boeing 777-200ER and 777-300ER have appeared too.

The suspension of A380 flights is a strategic move by Emirates to reduce risk and exposure at a time when some are concerned about traveling via Gulf hubs.

Emirates' Double-Decker Services To PER were initially scheduled for June 1, but the latest schedule submission indicates that the superjumbo will now lift off for Perth on July 1.

The airline's brand-new, high-capacity A380 configuration is due to operate on PRG route in July, replacing the two-class, 615-seater aircraft.

This new configuration will have a three-class layout with 76 seats in business, 56 seats in premium economy, and 437 seats in economy.

The suspension of A380 flights is a result of the ongoing conflict in Iran, which has led to increased fuel costs and reduced demand for air travel.
