The U.S. Coast Guard has commissioned its newest Fast Response Cutter, USCGC Vincent Danz (WPC 1162), for official entry into its service fleet during a ceremony held in New York City on Friday.
The ceremony was presided over by Vice Adm. Thomas Allan, who praised the cutter's namesake, Vincent Danz, as a hero who embodied the spirit of service and sacrifice.
Danz's legacy will live on through the Coast Guard crew who will breathe life into this cutter today, performing vital work across Oceania.
The Vincent Danz is the 62nd Sentinel-class Fast Response Cutter in the service fleet and the fourth of five FRCs to be homeported in Guam with U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam.
This multi-mission platform will primarily serve U.S. and mutual interests in Oceania, conducting maritime security operations, combating illegal activity, supporting search and rescue missions, and strengthening partnerships with Pacific Island nations and Allies.
The addition of the USCGC Vincent Danz to the Coast Guard's service fleet highlights the importance of honoring fallen heroes and their families.
