Electric Truck to Circumnavigate Globe

German professional driver Tobias Wagner is taking on a historic challenge: driving around the world in an electric truck. The 27,000-mile journey will take him through as many as 35 countries, with stops at charging stations found via the eTrucker app.

Wagner's modified Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric truck is equipped with three separate packs of LFP batteries, totaling 621-kilowatt-hour capacity. The truck's custom living quarters are designed to accommodate Wagner's needs during long periods of driving.

The prospect of traversing the globe in an electric vehicle raises questions about charging infrastructure and its impact on long-distance driving. However, progress is being made, with countries like Kyrgyzstan investing in EV charging stations.

Wagner's journey will not only showcase the capabilities of electric trucks but also highlight the importance of sustainable transportation options for global travel.

The eActros 600 has been modified to accommodate Wagner's needs, including a bed, wrap-around couch, microwave, and stove. The truck's charging ports are equipped with adapters for various charging standards.

As Wagner prepares to embark on his journey, he is confident in the truck's capabilities. He estimates that the trip will take around a year to complete.

Despite the challenges posed by limited charging infrastructure in some regions, Wagner remains undeterred. The eTrucker app will help him find charging stations along the way.

Wagner's journey has sparked interest in electric vehicles and sustainable transportation options for global travel. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, it is essential to explore alternative modes of transportation that minimize environmental impact.

The success of Wagner's journey will depend on various factors, including the truck's performance, charging infrastructure, and Wagner's own driving skills. However, with the eActros 600 and eTrucker app at his disposal, he is well-equipped to take on this historic challenge.
