LIVE Several flights to Malaga are diverting
Published: November 29, 2024
This morning, multiple flights bound for Malaga in southern Spain are experiencing diversions due to low visibility conditions caused by dense fog. Some pilots are attempting to land, while others are compelled to perform go-arounds due to the challenging conditions, with the ceiling reported at just 100 feet and visibility initially at 150 meters. The situation has slightly improved, with visibility fluctuating between 100 and 150 meters throughout the morning. As a result, flights have been redirected to Sevilla, Granada, and Alicante.
In the realm of transportation, low visibility can severely impact airport operations, leading to flight delays and increased costs for airlines. Airports need to invest in advanced ground-based navigation systems and improved communication between air traffic control and pilots to ensure safety and efficiency during such adverse weather conditions. Implementing enhanced training for pilots to handle go-arounds and diversions effectively is equally crucial to maintain flight safety.
