Honda has officially introduced its new Formula 1 engine, which will not be powering the Red Bull Racing F1 car as it has in previous seasons. Instead, starting in 2026, Honda will supply engines for Aston Martin, with drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll behind the wheel. The new logo will debut on the Aston Martin F1 cars during the first of two pre-season tests next week.
Initially, Honda had announced in 2024 that this modernized version of its iconic 'H' logo would only be used on its electric vehicles, specifically the 0 Series models available in Japan and other regions. However, last week, Honda confirmed that the new logo will now be featured across all Honda vehicles, including cars, trucks, and SUVs, as well as on dealership signage and other assets. This strategic rebranding aligns with Honda's vision for its automobile business.
During the engine reveal livestream, Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe emphasized the significance of this new logo, stating that it symbolizes the transformation of Honda's automobile business. The new logo has already been applied to the mock-up Aston Martin F1 car, which was showcased during the event. The logo is prominently displayed on the new RA626H power unit, as well as on the car's nose and steering wheel.
The updated font for the Honda name can also be seen on the steering wheel and both sides of the engine covers. Mibe highlighted Honda's commitment to Formula 1, stating that it embodies the spirit of the company's founder, Soichiro Honda, who inspired engineers to strive for excellence and tackle challenging goals. With significant regulatory changes in F1 set for 2026 regarding both chassis and power units, Honda views its participation in the sport as a platform for challenge and innovation.
The RA626H power unit, developed by Honda's global racing arm, HRC, is designed to meet the new demands of the upcoming season.
