Chery Automotive has launched its first electric pickup, the Rely R08 EV, which bears a striking resemblance to the Toyota Hilux. With prices starting at $18,300 and available in two battery pack options, this Chinese EV pickup promises to be an affordable alternative to established brands.
The Rely R08 measures 5,330 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,890 mm in height, making it roughly the same size as a Toyota Hilux. The electric pickup is available with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive powertrains, providing up to 405 km (252 miles) and 510 km (317 miles) CLTC driving range.
The larger 88 kWh battery offers a CLTC range of 505 km (314 miles). The Rely R08 features a single 150 kW (200 hp) electric motor in its rear-wheel drive version, delivering 350 Nm of torque, while the all-wheel drive model adds a front-mounted electric motor for a combined 300 kW (400 hp) and 540 Nm max torque.

The Rely R08 starts at $18,300 with prices ranging up to $22,800. This electric pickup is part of a growing list of Chinese brands competing in the global market, including Geely’s Radar RD6 and Toyota’s upcoming all-electric Hilux BEV.
