S. soil. The only previous WRC event held on American ground was the Olympus Rally in Washington state back in 1988.

A candidate event is planned for June, which will evaluate the location's ability to host a major event in terms of logistics, safety, crowd management, and race sanctioning. While it's unclear if top-class WRC cars will participate, an event in the mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky would be a great addition to the already diverse WRC calendar. The FIA is working closely with the Automobile Competition Committee of the United States (ACCUS) on this initiative.
