Dealerships have been instructed to install a new windshield with the correct urethane fitting for the refreshed 2026 Explorer due to potential safety concerns. The issue arises from improper application of urethane bonding between the windshield and its frame.
If left unaddressed, this could lead to serious risks in the event of a crash, including windshields detaching and increasing the risk of injury to those inside. Affected vehicles may also produce more wind noise than normal and experience water leaks due to poor seal.
Fortunately, Ford hasn’t received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue. In other news, two recalls have been issued for the 2025 Ford F-59 Commercial Stripped Chassis and the 2025 F-53, both tied to separate safety concerns.
The first recall affects eight examples of the 2026 Explorer produced between October 19 and October 20, 2025. The second recall involves 146 units of the F-59 produced between September 29 and October 13, 2025, along with 85 F-53 units built between September 29 and October 10.
In both cases, improperly revised installation instructions may have caused stop lamp switches to be fitted incorrectly during assembly, leading to brake light issues. Dealers have been instructed to replace the stop lamp switch and confirm its proper function before returning the vehicles to customers.
These recalls highlight the importance of adhering to proper manufacturing procedures and ensuring that all safety standards are met. It's a reminder for Ford and other manufacturers to prioritize vehicle safety and take prompt action when issues arise.
