Mercedes-AMG is gearing up to go electric with the upcoming launch of three dedicated electric vehicles. The performance division has already created AMG versions of the EQE sedan, EQE SUV, and EQS sedan, but will take things a step further by launching its first AMG-exclusive electric car later this year.
That sedan, based on the GT XX concept, will be followed by an SUV and then an SUV coupe. The SUV coupe was confirmed to Autocar by Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe, who is soon set to move to head up Mercedes-Benz's Top End Vehicle (TEV) Group.
According to Schiebe, AMG plans to double down on SUVs, which now account for more than half of AMG's sales. EA platform, which brings a unique round cell battery pack and an 800-volt electric architecture.

A tri-motor powertrain, with one motor up front and two on the rear axle, should provide well over 1000 horsepower. The SUV coupe will essentially be the same as the electric AMG SUV, albeit with a more dramatically sloping roofline.
The production car was previewed last year by the GT XX concept, which produced 1341 hp, could hit a top speed of 223 mph, and was capable of an average charging speed of 850 kilowatts. Mercedes-AMG will add this third dedicated EV to its lineup after launching its first AMG-exclusive electric car later this year.
The company's plans for the upcoming electric vehicles are part of its strategy to expand its offerings in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market.
As the automotive industry continues to shift towards electrification, it's exciting to see Mercedes-AMG take a bold step forward with its new lineup of dedicated electric vehicles. With a focus on performance and luxury, AMG is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for high-performance electric vehicles.
