Xiaomi has officially filed for the YU7 GT, a high-performance version of its popular YU7 electric SUV that will hit a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h), making it one of the fastest electric SUVs ever built. The YU7 GT packs a dual-motor powertrain with a total output of 990 horsepower, significantly exceeding the standard YU7 Max's 681 hp setup.
With its impressive performance capabilities and extensive customization options, the YU7 GT is poised to take on high-performance SUVs from established brands. Xiaomi has filed for the YU7 GT in China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) regulatory catalog, revealing a widebody beast that positions the company squarely against any high-performance SUVs.
The filing also shows extensive customization options, including different wheel designs, caliper colors, spoiler configurations, and body decals. Market speculation puts the YU7 GT between $60,000-$70,000, positioning it below the SU7 Ultra sedan.

With its remarkable performance capabilities and brand-building strategy, Xiaomi is likely to attract attention from performance SUV buyers in China and potentially beyond. The question remains whether there's a market for high-performance Chinese SUVs outside of China, but if Xiaomi can deliver at an affordable price point, they may find success.
Xiaomi's decision to create a high-performance variant like the YU7 GT is a strategic move to build brand credibility and attract attention from performance SUV buyers. If executed correctly, this could be a key factor in establishing Xiaomi as a major player in the global automotive market.
