In a recent announcement at the National Automobile Dealers Association meeting in Las Vegas, Ford executives revealed plans to launch five new models priced under $40,000 by 2030. This move is part of Ford's ongoing effort to make electric vehicles more accessible to a wider audience.
The new lineup will feature cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, and will be powered by multi-energy sources. According to Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e, the upcoming models will introduce new nameplates rather than being redesigns of existing cars.
While no specific details were provided about the lineup, experts speculate that one of the models could be an electric pickup truck with a starting price around $30,000, similar in size to the gas-powered Maverick but with a cabin comparable to a Toyota RAV4. Another possibility is a new compact crossover to replace the Escape, which will be discontinued after 2026.

Ford may also re-enter the sedan or hatchback market in the United States, potentially serving as a successor to the Fusion. The shape and powertrains of these models are still unclear, but they are likely to include a mix of gas, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric setups.
With the Universal EV platform set to spawn a variety of low-priced electric models over the next several years, Ford's push for affordability is gaining momentum.
Ford's plans to launch affordable electric models are a significant step towards making sustainable transportation more accessible to a broader audience. As the automotive industry continues to shift towards electrification, it will be interesting to see how these new models fare in terms of performance, range, and overall value.
