Volkswagen has taken a significant step towards electrification with the introduction of its new hybrid module, designed specifically for the Golf and T-Roc models. This innovative hybrid drive system is engineered to power the front axle, combining a turbocharged petrol engine with advanced electric motor technology. The hybrid module integrates essential components such as a drive motor, a generator, power electronics, and a one-speed gearbox, all working in harmony to enhance vehicle performance and efficiency.

At the heart of this hybrid system is the turbocharged petrol engine, known as the 1.5 TSI evo2, which operates alongside two electric motors. One electric motor serves as the primary drive source, while the second functions as a generator. Volkswagen's hybrid technology features three distinct operating modes that automatically adjust based on the vehicle's usage profile. The first mode, propulsion by electric motor, allows the vehicle to operate solely on electric power at low speeds, effectively switching off the petrol engine. In parallel drive mode, both the petrol engine and electric motor work in tandem, with the TSI engine becoming the main power source at speeds above 60 km/h. This mode is designed for highway and country road driving, where the electric motor can provide additional support during acceleration, enhancing overall performance.
