The 2027 Hyundai Tucson has been spied with a more upscale and conservative design, marking a significant departure from its predecessor. Spy photographers have caught the model on multiple occasions, but it was always covered by a bulky black disguise.
Recently, a prototype was spotted without heavy cladding, giving us our best look yet at the redesigned model. The production crossover shares some cues with last year's Crater concept, but is notably less aggressive and features a completely different front end.
The model appears to have a fully enclosed grille, flanked by angular daytime running lights that flow into large headlights. It also has a mid-mounted intake and a wide lower opening, which adds a splash of flair.
Moving further back, we can see a clamshell hood and a relatively flat beltline. Designers have given the crossover miles of front overhang and heavily stylized fender flares, which are hidden behind black and white camouflage.
The rear end doesn't reveal much, but the claw-like taillights have been replaced by large vertical units that sit at the outside edges. Hyundai is keeping details under wraps, but the redesigned Tucson is expected to debut later this year with a new hybrid powertrain and significantly improved plug-in hybrid variant.
