Subaru is preparing to expand its EV lineup with a new three-row electric SUV set to join the brand's range in 2026. The vehicle will be designed to compete with newer offerings in the segment and share roots with Toyota, with production expected to start later this year.
The model will offer home charging compatibility, room for competition with Kia's EV9, and cater to two-car households. Subaru's version of the electric three-row Highlander is scheduled to arrive later this year and will be targeted at families who require more space than the compact Solterra.
Toyota has confirmed that both brands will receive the new model, anticipating production to start in 2025. The vehicle's design will closely resemble Toyota's bZ Large prototype, with minimal differentiation expected beyond some badging and minor design tweaks.
However, Subaru may choose to add its own unique touches to differentiate the model from its Toyota counterpart. Additionally, Lexus is reportedly working on a premium variant of the electric SUV, which could serve as an electric counterpart to the gas-powered TX.

With its home charging compatibility and spacious interior, the vehicle is poised to appeal to families who require more room than the compact Solterra offers.

Subaru's decision to rebadge Toyota's electric three-row Highlander will likely be seen as a strategic move to tap into Toyota's established brand reputation and expertise in electric powertrains. However, it remains to be seen how closely Subaru will differentiate its version from the original model.
