Genesis, through its parent company Hyundai, has issued a recall for approximately 83,877 vehicles that may experience infotainment and display screens turning off while driving. The affected models include select populations of G80, Electrified G80, GV60, GV70, Electrified GV70, and GV80, all from either the 2025 or 2026 model years.
According to documents associated with the recall, a software logic issue in the HD radio memory storage is causing the instrument panel and infotainment screens to intermittently reboot while driving, potentially hiding important information such as speedometer readings, fuel gauge levels, and temperature gauges. At this time, Genesis has not reported any crashes or injuries related to the faulty screens, but received 237 complaints filed between September 26, 2024, and January 2, 2026.
The automaker began running remedy software as part of a production change starting on November 26, 2025. To address the issue, Genesis recommends disabling the HD radio feature in affected vehicles until the remedy has been applied.
Owners will receive mail notifications with instructions to bring their car to a dealership for technicians to confirm and potentially update the software. Additionally, Genesis plans to use over-the-air software updates for eligible vehicles.
For owners concerned about their vehicle's eligibility, they can check on the NHTSA site.
This recall highlights the importance of regular software updates and maintenance in ensuring the reliability and safety of modern vehicles. As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, it is crucial for automakers to stay vigilant in addressing potential issues before they become major problems.
