Mercedes C-Class Electric Debuts Later This Year

The first-ever electric Mercedes C-Class is set to debut later this year, marking a significant milestone in the company's transition to electric vehicles. EA platform as the GLC with EQ Technology, which made its global debut at the Munich Motor Show last September.

The C-class will be sold alongside an updated version of today's combustion C-Class and will feature a large, illuminated traditional-look Mercedes grille. Based on what we know of the GLC EQ, the electric C-Class is expected to have an 800-volt electrics system and a dual-motor drivetrain that produces 483 hp.

With the electric BMW i3 sedan rival set to debut this fall, buyers are going to have a tough time choosing between these two electric sedans. Mercedes has stuck to its naming convention, which could make the new model sound clunky with the C-Class with EQ Technology nameplate.

The car's design and features will be a major selling point for potential buyers, who will be spoiled for choice come 2027 when both cars land in dealerships.
