California has long been considered the epicenter of automotive culture in the United States, but the Pacific Northwest is a close second. Oregon and Washington have their own unique car culture that is thriving and distinct from any other region in the country.

The region is home to epic rally culture, mountain ranges with some of the best driving roads in the country, and a host of grassroots racetracks. To experience this car culture firsthand, Road & Track is facilitating its first-ever Cascade adventure on June 10-13, 2026, called the 2026 Northwest Shift Rally.

The event will take participants to Portland International Raceway, where they can experience the track's easy access to road racing, drag racing, and motocross events for local enthusiasts nearly year-round. The rally will also feature a day of learning at DirtFish Rally School, where participants can improve their car control skills and learn how to drive on unpaved surfaces.
