The Rub' al Khali, also known as the Empty Quarter, is a vast expanse of rocky plains and sand dunes that spans over parts of Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. This region has been home to the Dakar Rally for several years, and it's fitting that the newest Genesis concept, the X Scorpio, is set up in a similar fashion to the trophy trucks that compete in the event.
The X Scorpio concept is powered by a free-flowing V-8 engine that produces 1100 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. This powerful engine is matched with a specially tuned suspension system that lifts the vehicle well above the road, allowing it to tackle high-flying jumps off sand dunes.
The bodywork of the X Scorpio concept features a combination of carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass, which helps keep the weight down while providing an enormous breakover angle. The interior is adorned with luxury materials such as leather and Alcantara grab handles.

While it's unclear if the X Scorpio will enter production, its design could be a glimpse into Genesis' future. As the company looks to expand its presence in the Middle East, finding success in the Dakar Rally would only strengthen that position.
With its powerful V-8 engine and off-road capabilities, the X Scorpio concept is an impressive addition to Genesis' lineup.
The X Scorpio concept showcases Genesis' commitment to creating high-performance vehicles that can tackle challenging terrain. Its design and engineering are a testament to the brand's focus on innovation and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the automotive world.
