The Texas Motorcycle Dealers Association Annual Conference took place January 11-12 in Austin, held at a new meeting location at Lakeway Resort and Spa alongside Lake Travis in the Hill Country. The event marked a significant shift from its previous venue, with attendees praising the new location for its convenience and amenities.
This year's conference was also notable for its historic significance, as it brought together dealerships that have been part of the TMDA community for decades. Mark Woods, owner of Woods Cycle Country, was among the attendees who shared stories of the industry's past and present.
The conference kicked off with a networking reception featuring local musician Gigi Worth on guitar, setting the tone for a weekend of camaraderie and collaboration. The following evening, all attendees gathered for an all-attendees dinner in the adjacent restaurant at the Lakeway Resort, providing ample opportunities for dealers to connect and share experiences.

One of the highlights of the conference was the educational sessions, which covered topics such as regulatory updates, marketing strategies, and industry trends. Attendees praised the speakers for their expertise and ability to convey complex information in an engaging and accessible way.
Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, the turnout at this year's conference was significantly higher than in previous years. Some dealers made their debut appearance at the event, and many reported finding it beneficial and informative.
Trey Sralla, president of the TMDA, reported that attendees received overwhelmingly positive feedback on the speakers and the overall experience. He attributed the success to the efforts of the TMDA board and its members in advocating for dealerships throughout the year.
Looking ahead to future conferences, Sralla and the TMDA board will continue to focus on initiatives such as lobbying state agencies and addressing regulatory issues. These efforts are crucial in ensuring that dealerships remain competitive and compliant with industry regulations.
The TMDA's commitment to its members is evident in its ongoing advocacy work, which often goes unnoticed until regulatory changes begin to impact dealerships. By staying engaged and proactive, the TMDA aims to mitigate the effects of these changes and support its member dealerships.
As the powersports industry continues to evolve, the TMDA's role as a champion for dealership interests will remain vital. By fostering relationships with regulators and advocating on behalf of its members, the TMDA is well-positioned to navigate the challenges ahead and ensure the long-term success of the industry.
The TMDA's efforts to maintain relationships with dealerships and regulatory bodies are crucial in navigating the ever-changing landscape of the powersports industry.
