The King of the Hammers, a grueling off-road race in California's Mojave Desert, proved to be one of the toughest courses in recent memory. With its rugged terrain and numerous boulder-strewn canyons, only two competitors managed to finish within the time limit, both taking over 13 hours to complete the course.

The event's organizers had warned that this year's course would be particularly challenging, with many new canyon runs added to the mix. As a result, several seasoned racers were left stranded in the desert darkness, struggling to fix their vehicles or obtain vital supplies such as transmission fluid.

Despite the difficulties, winner Randy Slawson praised the event for living up to its reputation as one of the most demanding off-road races in the world. However, others, including second-place finisher Josh Blyler, were less impressed, calling the course 'nasty' and 'insane'.
